Geothermal spring

In 1973, a geothermal spring of strongly mineralized water was drilled at a depth of 1900 m. The water at its delta has a temperature of 80 °C and a flow rate of 30 liters per second.
Unbelievable, but it’s true. Slovakia has the sea. Its water is unique, comparable to Dead Sea water, and comes from Tertiary springs. In its lower layers, they found fish teeth, pollen grains, and other biological materials of those times. The spring base belongs to a relatively young tectonic area, active in the last century. Thanks to it, the water is heated to a temperature of approximately 80 °C and rises to the earth’s surface.
In 2003, complex maintenance of the well was carried out as a part of its 10-year maintenance cycle, namely by deep drilling of the production column. Subsequently, a total rebuilding of the above-ground part of the mining well was carried out, which carried out its general repair after 30 years of operation. The last complex maintenance of the well took place in 2018.
